BOOK REVIEWS
Question: What is a book review?
Answer:
A book review is a form of literary criticism in which a book is analyzed
based on the content, style and merit. I will give a fair assessment of
any book I read for an author. I am versatile in the many genres that flood the
book markets. If I would find that I cannot read any one particular book,
I will contact the author and will not write a review on it.
My basic guideline that I follow when I write a review is:
1. If an author wishes to have me do a book review they must provide me with
a hard copy or 'coded' e-book copy so that I can write the review on line.
I will do reviews on "Free Reads" when the author provides the book/e-book
and an address to send it to.
2. I will only do one book of a series at a time unless arrangements are made in
advance.
3. I do not put a deadline date on any "Free Reads" or purchased books or
e-books when doing a book review. But do try to keep within a two week
time frame for completion per book.
4. I would give a star rating if applicable. Most reviews have a star rating
system up to five stars as excellent. (An excellent rating from me would
include the content, style and merit of the story. It would also require
the 'perfection' of the placement of paragraph and sentence structuring
per page as well as spelling and punctuation throughout. I also look for
uniqueness in the title.)
5. I will give a brief introduction to your review, letting the reader know
what the book is about and whether I would recommend it.
6. I would write what I liked about the book, and use examples and or quotes if
necessary.
7. I would write what I disliked about the book using examples and or quotes if
necessary.
8. I would add any additional thoughts and insights.
9. I would give a brief conclusion, summarizing my opinion of your book.
